2018 IFTA/IRP Workshop
This week Auditors and Industry came together in Chandler, AZ to raise questions, raise issues, and propose solutions to the interstate trucking industry’s ever evolving – and always changing – business environment. The IFTA and IRP community have a unique niche in the world of interstate commerce. They shed a good light on how a diverse group of people can work together to keep America truckin’!
Hot topics at this weeks gathering included ELD’s and the use of electronic records for IFTA Reporting. And the bottom line is that “you don’t know what you don’t know!”
Hot Topic
Did you know there are over 300 self-certified ELD devices on the FMCSA website?
Did you know some of the biggest and most recognizable manufacturers of ELD’s are having trouble keeping their devices certified?
Did you know there are “BYOD” (Bring your own Device) and “Tethered” devices?
Do you know what kind of a device is on the truck you drive?
Did you know Drivers have to have the following information in their truck at all times?
-The users manual for the ELD in their truck
-The manual from the ELD provider for Roadside Inspections
-The Guide to Errors and Exceptions being reported by their ELD
And – in the event the ELD fails – paper HOS Logs and Trip Sheets to keep records the “Old Fashioned” way until the ELD starts working again
Do you know the frequency and accuracy of the pings sent out from your ELD?
Do you know how to gather data from the ELD and translate it into tax reports in a simple and efficient way?
Do you know it ALL matters – a lot!
