A change in Colorado commercial drivers license curriculum may teach drivers how to identify the signs of human trafficking and steps to take to help solve the problem. Arkansas has this training requirement and Kansas and Texas have legislation pending on this issue.
According to the Denver Post, some companies are ahead of the curve and have been voluntarily teaching drivers to detect the signs of labor or sex trafficking when on route at rest stops.
The organization “Truckers Against Trafficking” reports that to date 532,600 drivers are trained already “TAT” trained and there have be 1980 calls made to their hotline. As a result 1035 victims have been identified.
